After having owned a cleaning business for several years, and now managing several Airbnb properties, I can speak from experience for what not to do.
Definitely do not hire the cheapest cleaning company around. Make sure you ask lots of questions to ensure that the company you hire understands the differences between normal residential home cleaning and cleaning between Airbnb guests- Airbnb gusts need bedding changed, trash taken out, and all the normal bathroom, kitchen, and floor cleaning. Check reviews for the company, too.
Definitely do not hire someone that doesn’t have business insurance, unless you feel very confident about a recommendation or their credentials. An unlicensed business or individual isn’t very reliable when you are running an Airbnb business. It’s very important to make sure the home is completely clean before the next guest arrives. Even one hair or crumb can make a home look uncleaned and cause a guest to leave a negative review.
It’s really important to hire a reputable cleaning service with business insurance. Staging to make the home look comfortable and welcoming is also indispensable.
I recommend going with a cleaner from care.com or a good local cleaner! Hiring a cleaner is essential if you don’t live in the area, but even if you do, it has numerous benefits: keeps your space in the best shape, frees up your time for value adding tasks, allows you to focus on your core business, and delivers a consistent and quality experience to your guests. A Little extra expense to keep the guests happy will keep you getting good reviews and will encourage continued demand for your rental space.
