A Love Story

I used to go up to this place in the Rockies called Storm Mountain. I was nursing a vision I’d had for years. There was this plot of land that I knew would be perfect for a healing wellness retreat center. I’d been imagining that retreat center, sketching the holistic gardens and meditation corners, classrooms and Earth Ships where people could stay.
I knew that was my future. But, I wanted to do it with a family. I wanted to work side by side with my husband while our children ran free on the land. I had this very clear vision of this one man, but I hadn’t found him yet.
Simultaneously, Rich would go up to this land in the Rockies, Storm Mountain, and imagine building a sacred space for his family to live. He drew the main homestead house on graph paper, outlined chicken coops and little bungalows for people to come stay in for a respite.
He just needed the family to make the vision complete. He had this idea of this one woman, but he couldn’t find her.
Except that we did know each other. We had met years before in a law of attraction mastermind group at a friend’s house. But, I was in a relationship and he was interested in our mutual friend. We never really saw each other after that, perhaps a chance meeting at our church.
Then we ran into each other at Starbucks.
“Oh, it’s you!” was what it felt like.
Immediately, we were smitten. It felt so perfect and right. Especially when we compared our mutual future visions, our lists of perfect partners and our desire to create a family.
When we reconnected, I had just quit my job as the president of a market research company to set off on my own as an entrepreneur. Yet, I had no income. I rented out my condo on airbnb, my only asset, and moved into my friend’s house and then my parents’ house. When I made a totally unexpected profit the business began to expand.
Rich was miserable in his job, so within months he was working in the airbnb business full-time. The core of each of our visions involved working with our significant other. Here we were doing it together, building a company which created healing and inviting spaces for people.
It was the beginning of our broader vision. Totally unexpected and totally amazing.
On Valentine’s Day, a year after our first real date, Rich brought me up to our mountain (in the freezing cold) and proposed to me on the land we had both visited alone and which now we frequently visited together.
The next September we were surrounded by our friends and family, making very specific vows and commitments to each other, as we were married under the sacred geometry of a pyramid built by Rich’s hands. As with everything else we do we began our marriage with intention and vision.
We don’t yet own that piece of land. We bid on it once, but someone else had more cash in hand. Still, we visit it and know that it will be ours one day.
We’ve moved into a camper to experiment with off-the-grid living. Complete with a compost toilet and energy innovative appliances.
We invite you to share the vision of RawAwakening Homestead with us. It will be our banner airb&b Investor Style property.
And so it is!
