How to Make the Most of Your Airbnb Experience: Airbnb Tips

Here are some great tips on how to maximize your Airbnb experience! First, determine whether you want a shared room, private room, or entire home. This will affect the prices. If you like alone time, you may want to splurge on the whole home. If you would rather meet people and have some guidance on local places to check out, a shared or private room is probably a good option for you.

When you are searching Airbnb, know exactly where you want to stay. How close to the city or suburbs? Look up the neighborhood, too, to make sure it is a safe area.

In addition, it is a good idea to check out amenities. Don’t assume that there will be wifi or air conditioning or anything in specific- every home is different. If you aren’t sure- ask the host before you book! Know what you are looking for specifically!

Keep in mind that the reviews may or may not tell the whole truth. Use your best judgement to determine how you feel about a listing. Looking through the photographs on the listing will be the best way to see what you are paying for.

Remember that Airbnb is not the same as a hotel. There aren’t continental breakfasts or room service. It’s not right for everyone, so do a little research and thinking before you decide if it might be for you.

Make sure you know the cancellation policy before you book. It is only human nature for plans to change. Know the cancellation policy in advance, and know that if you have to cancel, not all of your money will be refunded, regardless of the hosts policy. Airbnb does charge a guest transaction fee to help fund the site upkeep.

Respect the rental. Clean up after yourself and be considerate. Even if you book the entire home, there may be neighbors! If you arrive late, try to be quiet. Remember that the host can leave negative reviews for the guest, too. Leave the home in the same condition you found it in.
