Budgeting is such an important part of trip planning. Typically for trips, I like to budget a little extra because there are always those darn last minute or hidden expenses that I forget about. With Airbnb, you don’t have to worry about any of that! Whether you are the host or the guest, there are no hidden fees, and no surprise charges!
Some home will charge a cleaning fee to get the home professionally cleaned in between guests- this is a one time charge that you pay up front when you make the reservation. If you plan to stay for a while, you can also inquire about the possibility of adding on additional cleaning services during your stay. Typically, an Airbnb host does not clean the part of the home that is being rented while the guest is there, unlike a hotel which will have a cleaning service daily or every few days.
Other than that, any taxes and fees are included in the price you see when you book through Airbnb.com. The full rate is the same- what you see when you are searching different properties to compare is the same as what you pay upon check out. If you stay for more than one month, only one month will be billed up front, and the subsequent months will be billed on the same day of the next month that the first payment occurred on.
The best part of Airbnb budgeting is that what you see is what you get! You’ll know exactly how much to budget for a place to stay. It is not necessary to tip the cleaning service of the host. In fact, money almost never changes hands directly from guest to host.
